I am following the model layed down in Py_Thing which allows Python
inheritance to work correctly, while keeping pretty good C++ type safety.

Use tp_methods rather than getattr for methods
...
Requiring getattr for method lookups is archaic and messy.
In getattr is required, implement getattro, and end it with
PyObject_GenericGetAttr which handles the method lookup from
tp_methods
