It is fairly common to want to represent characters like Ctrl-Z. Instead of having to use character codes, allow these to be coded as `\^z` or `\^Z` instead. `\^?` is DEL. Signed-off-by: H. Peter Anvin (Intel) <hpa@zytor.com>
